Web Development & Interactive Service Experience

Pristine Body Studio

This project demonstrates the design, development, and ongoing support of a production WordPress website for a service-based business. The objective was to create a responsive digital experience that communicates services clearly, supports customer acquisition, and extends standard CMS functionality with custom front-end development.

Role: Web Developer / Designer
Technologies: WordPress, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, SQL, WooCommerce, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, SEO

Website Development

The Pristine Body Studio website was developed and maintained as a production web property supporting the company’s marketing, service information, customer education, and online conversion needs.

Key development work included:

  • WordPress theme customization and content implementation
  • Responsive layouts for desktop, tablet, and mobile devices
  • Custom HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery functionality
  • Plugin customization and third-party integrations
  • Cross-browser testing and front-end troubleshooting
  • Service and pricing presentation
  • E-commerce functionality
  • Search engine optimization
  • Ongoing production maintenance and enhancements

Branding & Graphic Design

In addition to developing the website, I created the original visual assets used throughout the Pristine Body Studio brand and digital experience.

Using Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop, I designed:

  • Pristine Body Studio Logo — Created the primary brand logo and supporting visual identity used across the website and marketing materials.
  • “Hairy Mary” Character — Designed and illustrated the original character used as the foundation of the site’s interactive waxing visualization.
  • Service Visualization Assets — Created the individual graphical layers used to visually demonstrate different waxing services and treatment areas.
  • Web Graphics — Prepared and optimized graphics for use throughout the production website.

The original Hairy Mary artwork was then incorporated into the custom JavaScript/jQuery experience, connecting the graphic design work directly to the site’s interactive functionality.

Interactive Waxing Service Visualization

A custom interactive visualization was developed to help customers understand the differences between waxing services.

The interface uses a base body illustration with multiple layered images representing the results of individual services. Separate visual states were created for services including Bikini, French Bikini, Brazilian, Eyebrows, Full Face, Underarms, Arms, Legs, Chest, and other treatment areas.

Custom CSS controls image positioning and visibility while jQuery connects each service option to its corresponding visual state.

When a customer hovers over a service, jQuery event handlers trigger animated fadeToggle() transitions to display the appropriate result.

This allows customers to visually identify the treatment area rather than relying exclusively on written service descriptions.

Responsive Interaction

Desktop hover behavior was adapted for mobile users through a service-selection interface tied to the same visual states used by the desktop experience.

Responsive CSS adjusts the visualization, imagery, service interface, and page layout for different screen sizes.

This allowed the custom functionality to remain usable across desktop and touch-based devices rather than simply removing the interactive feature on smaller screens.

CMS & Business Integrations

WordPress provides the site’s content-management foundation while custom development extends the platform for the specific needs of the business.

The implementation includes:

  • WordPress content management
  • Custom front-end functionality
  • WooCommerce/e-commerce functionality
  • Third-party service integrations
  • Service and pricing management
  • Customer-facing calls to action
  • Production updates and maintenance

Search Engine Optimization

SEO was incorporated into the site’s content and technical structure to improve visibility for service-based and local searches.

The site was structured around Pristine Body Studio’s primary services and geographic market, with service-specific content supporting searches related to waxing and other offered treatments in the Spring and The Woodlands area.

Optimization work included:

  • Service-focused page structure
  • Local keyword targeting
  • Page titles and metadata
  • Search-friendly content organization
  • Internal linking
  • Indexing and canonical configuration
  • Ongoing content optimization

Development & Troubleshooting

Maintaining the website as a live business property required continued testing and troubleshooting across the WordPress application, front-end code, plugins, integrations, hosting environment, and responsive layouts.

Custom functionality was tested and iteratively adjusted as the site’s services and business requirements evolved.
